It was a cold night at Indian Trees Campground last night. 41 deg inside the tent.
We had rapid warming to about 75 deg soon after the sun came up over the ridge. NO RAIN NOW FOR A COUPLE DAYS IN A ROW!
Had a long day of climbing totalling 3550 ft. We msde it up and over Lost Trail Pass and Chief Joseph Pass at about 7200 ft.
There were wide open plains at 6500 ft with mountains all around and a big blue sky. I suspect that I am not the first to make that observation. (Big sky state)
As you may have guessed from the picture, I have finally found wisdom. Joy says that I should bring some of it home. I think she was serious.
Pictured below, is a South Korean student "Sam" (he said his name in Korean was was too difficult). No matter. We TransAmers are all instant friends in a way that only those who have similarly endeavored would understand. (Joy, my wife, might say that we are all crazy.)
Sam left from Yorktown, VA on 4/7/13 anf will have to move right along because he already has his plane ticket to leave Portland on 6/22/13.
We camped up on a hill by the road in scraggly vegetation and it was another cold night (down to 41 deg in the tent again but we were fine with the 40 deg bags.
